
In order to deeply implement the important consensus reached at the Bali meeting between the leaders of China and Australia, seize RCEP opportunities, and promote practical economic and trade exchanges, as well as investment attraction,RCEP Trade and Investment Exchange Conference - China (Fangchenggang)·Australia Sessionwas successfully convened on May 25th, both online and on the scene. The eventwas jointly hosted by the CCPIT Guangxi Committee, the People’s Government of Fangchenggang City, and the Australian Trade and Investment Commission. It was organized by the Guangxi International Chamber of Commerce, CCPIT Fangchenggang Branch, Fangchenggang Investment Promotion Bureau, Fangchenggang Bureau of Commerce, and Beibu Gulf Office (Port and Logistics Development Bureau). The main venue was located in Fangchenggang, Guangxi, while branch meeting places were set up in Canberra, Sydney, and Melbourne, Australia.
H.E.Sui Guohua, Vice Governorof the People’s Governmentofthe Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Consul GeneralAnthony Aspdenof Australia in Guangzhou, and others attended the conference and delivered speeches at the main venue. Nearly 300 participants, including representatives from the China-Australia Chamber of Commerce, Australian enterprises in China, the CCPIT Guangxi Committee, officials from Fangchenggang City and relevant departments of the autonomous region, various industry associations, companies, and experts and scholars from Guangxi were present. The conference was chaired by Yang Yanyan, Chairperson of the CCPIT Guangxi Committee, and Li Jiaying, member of the Fangchenggang City Committee, Minister of the United Front Work Department, and Director of the Investment Promotion Center of the Municipal Government.
In her speech, ViceGovernorSui Guohua highlighted that Guangxi is currently utilizing its distinct geographic position to deepen cooperation with RCEP member countries, particularly those beyond ASEAN. Guangxi is speeding up the enhancement and growth of public platforms likeChina-ASEAN Expo and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit. With comprehensive construction underway to transform Guangxi into a magnificent andlively region in the new era, the benefits of its location, policies, platforms, and resources are increasingly apparent. These advantages will offer a wider platform for mutual cooperation. She presented the following suggestions:Comprehensively explore RCEP business opportunities, jointly foster high-level openness;Jointly build and share open platforms to contribute to regional economic recovery;Strengthen bilateral exchanges to deepen practical cooperation. She conveyed the aspiration that both sides will continue enhancing their economic and trade cooperation, engaging in reciprocal visits and cultural exchanges, broadening cooperation inmulti-disciplinary fields and promoting mutual benefit.
Consul General Deng Anyi of Australia in Guangzhou stated that RCEP, centered around ASEAN, embodies regional characteristics and focuses on economic cooperation. It will facilitate deepened economic integration and drive growth in Asia. For Australia, RCEP countries cover9out of its top 15 trading partners. RCEP offers superior business opportunities for enterprises and consumers in Australia, China, and other RCEP member countries. Australia anticipates cooperating with China and other RCEP member countries to ensure that complete potentialofRCEP isachieved, thereby establishing a fresh platform of global significance for future economic dialogue and cooperation.
The conferenceisalso comprised ofproject presentations, where9enterprises from China and Australia offered in-depth insights into their corporatetraits and product specifications. Li Jiaying delivered an on-sitebriefing ontheinvestmentlandscapeofFangchenggangcity.
A total of 11 projects were signed at the conference, totaling a contract value of 10.3 billion yuan (equivalent to around 1.6 billion US dollars), covering areas such as mineral resources, pharmaceuticals, food, consulting, and overseas warehouses. Additionally,inauguration ceremony fortheAustralian subsidiaryofGuangxi LiuGong Machinery Co., Ltd. and the unveiling ceremonyfor the RCEPEnterprise Service Center of the Guangxi Chamber of International CommerceinAustralia were alsosolemnized.
It is reported that this event is an extension of the RCEP Trade and Investment Exchange series, which was initiated by the CCPIT Guangxi Committee. The purpose is to boost practical economic and trade cooperation between China and Australia. Going forward, the CCPIT Guangxi Committee willhold a stringof economic and trade events that zone in key countries, uphold the high-quality implementation of RCEP, and assist enterprises in gaining policy and development dividends.
